Mike Ashley's Frasers Group bought the firm in December. They own House of Fraser and Sports Direct. The new owner intends to keep the Missguided brand and operate it as a separate company. The move comes as the fashion industry grapples with an increase in sales but also more expensive energy bills, and a shift towards sustainable and ethical clothing.

Although the company claims to be an ethical clothing label but it doesn't have solid animal testing policy and doesn't have a clear commitment to paying living wages. In addition it has a blemish on its track record in respect to labour rights, and has no information regarding its suppliers' working conditions or exploitation of female workers. Ethical Consumer recently rated the company as "Very Poor".

The retailer based in the UK is proud to offer cheap clothes for women. However, the site crashed after it held a flash sale and was overwhelmed by customers. The incident caused controversy on social media and even in the media. Customers were told to keep trying while others were compelled to refresh the site for hours. Some politicians have even called for an investigation into the company's practices.
